Park Fuels Announces Opening of Newcastle Fuel Terminal
Park has celebrated the official opening of its fuel import and distribution terminal in Kooragang Island, Newcastle, NSW Australia on 10 September 2015. The AUD $40 million investment by Park will initially import and distribute diesel fuel for the Hunter and northern NSW markets with the potential for marine bunkers in the future.
The terminal project consisted of rebuilding two existing 25 million litre tanks that had laid idle for over 3 decades as well constructing a 2km long pipeline from the Port of Newcastle’s Kooragang berths to the terminal and providing a 2 bay truck filling station, biodiesel tank and other related infrastructure.
The terminal will operate 24/7 and initially employ a full time staff of 9 people supplemented by local labour when required to unload ships.
Nick Fletcher, Park’s Managing Director, said "The new facility will provide an excellent competitive service for existing and new customers and complement the fuel terminal we have been operating in Port Kembla south of Sydney for over 15 years.
The official opening is a time for us to all reflect and to congratulate Park staff and all our contractors on the hard work they have done to bring this project to fruition. Also special thanks to Mitsui who have supported this project from its inception"
